"Welcome to the lovely world of patent extortion, where the money from the practice is so lucrative that one of the highest paid lawyers at a top law firm would quietly license his patents to be used against his own firm's clients in exchange for a cut of the profits."
You have to read it to believe it.
IANAL and I am no fan of occupational licensure, but shouldn't Mr. Harris be stripped of his law license and his ill-gotten gains, and maybe even be convicted of a crime and do some time?
Inquiring minds want to know....
Agreed. I'm against licensing for the legal profession as well. But as long as we are forced into it - Harris should have his suspended at the very least.
How is that an indictment of the patent system? The subject of your post was clearly doing something illegal (read: outside of the bounds of the system) and unquestionably unethical. The system which you decry, will almost certainly strip him of his license to practice before the USPTO for inequitable conduct, and I would imagine he'll lose his state bar license as well.
